Guidelines for Mantra Jaap

How to chant with depth, devotion and discipline.

॥ ॐ ॥
Step 1

Correct Pronunciation (Swara)

Sanskrit syllables carry vibration — learn each sound from a teacher or trusted recording before relying on memory.

Step 2

Number of Repetitions

Traditionally 108 (one mala) or 1008. Even 11 or 21 with full focus is more powerful than 108 done mechanically.

Step 3

Best Time (Brahma Muhurta)

The 96 minutes before sunrise are ideal. Dusk (sandhya) is also sacred. Choose a fixed time daily.

Step 4

Mala or Without

A rudraksha, tulsi or sphatika mala helps track count and ground the mind. Both are equally valid.

Step 5

Faith & Focus

Shraddha (faith) is the soul of japa. Sit upright, close eyes, and let the sound dissolve all other thoughts.
